Happy Easter weekend (or 420 weekend depending on what you’re celebrating)! My curated list of things to do in Detroit and metro Detroit this weekend, April 18-20, spans from the most kid-friendly to the least, so I’m hopeful you’ll find something on this list to enjoy!
Fridays at the Station
Michigan Central hosts Fridays at the Station on Friday, April 18, from 5-10 p.m. Fridays at The Station is a monthly series that curates unexpected musical collaborations, bringing together emerging and established artists in a dynamic showcase. This Friday features Marion Hayden, a renowned jazz bassist and a pillar of Detroit’s jazz scene, and ameera haynes, a vinyl-based DJ known for her eclectic selections. Tickets start at $15.
The Great Marshmallow Drop
Oakland County Parks is hosting The Great Marshmallow Drop Friday, April 18, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. This is a free event at Worden Park in Royal Oak. 15,000 marshmallows are dropped from a helicopter. Participants just need to collect one marshmallow to redeem it for a prize. Drop zones are split into groups based on age, and, at 11 a.m., there’s a drop for individuals with disabilities of any age.
Easter Fun Fest 2025
The Detroit Parks and Recreation is hosting Easter Fun Fest on Saturday, April 19, from 1-5 p.m. at Lasky Recreation Center in Detroit. This is a free Easter carnival, set to the theme of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. There will be carnival rides, a circus, arts and crafts, an Easter Egg hunt, and more. Detroit Parks and Recreation will also be giving away 200 bikes and at least 500 Easter baskets.
Bunnyville
The Detroit Zoo is hosting Bunnyville Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19. Of course, you’ll see the zoo animals, but there’s also a golden egg hunt. If you find a golden egg, you can redeem it for a prize. There’s also whisker painting, photos with the Easter Bunny, and other entertainment. Tickets start at $24.
The Detroit Tigers vs. The Kansas City Royals
The Detroit Tigers host the Kansas City Royals this weekend. Friday’s, April 18, 6:40 p.m. game will host the first Friday night fireworks of the season. Tickets start around $31.

Sunday, April 20, is 420, and metro-Detroit dispensaries are offering deals for the holiday. Detroit Metro Times has a full list of deals from cash giveaways to big discounts. The Weed Bar is also sponsoring Cannabana Music Festival in Hamtramck on Saturday, April 19, which includes three floors of entertainment, musical performances, vendor booths, food, drink specials, and more. Tickets start at $25.
Detroit City FC vs. Rhode Island FC
Detroit City FC takes on Rhode Island FC on Saturday, April 19, at 4 p.m. Tickets start at $20 on Seat Geek.
The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre 96th Annual Spring Dance Concert
The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre at Wayne State University hosts its 96th Annual Spring Dance Concert this weekend. Performances start on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. There are also two performances on Saturday, April 19. One’s at 2 p.m., and the other is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are around $27.
ECLIPSED: The Sun, the Moon and Gladys Atkinson Sweet
Theatre Nova in Ann Arbor hosts the play ECLIPSED: The Sun, the Moon and Gladys Atkinson Sweet. It tells the real story of Gladys Atkinson Sweet and Dr. Ossian Sweet, a Black couple who were charged with first-degree murder after more than 700 of their white neighbors attacked their Detroit home. Tickets are around $30.
